In places like Mobile, Alabama or Seattle, homeowners probably worry a lot more about getting too much rain rather than not enough. Here, problems with rotting, weather wear, and fungus are usually the issues that cause concern when it comes to curb appeal. Residents in dry areas, on the other hand, have a whole different list of problems when it comes to how their homes look on the outside. In an area that gets as little annual rainfall as Los Angeles, sprinkler systems are a great tool for anyone who wants a good looking lawn. In fact, in some cases, keeping grass green and plants thriving would be a near impossible task without a sprinkler system.

Benefits of Installing a Sprinkler System in Los Angeles
While a bed of healthy grass and a few well-placed plants, trees, or shrubs can make a yard appealing and inviting, plant life that is brown and brittle can detract from the overall look of the property. Maintaining your flora, therefore, is a job that needs to be done well if you want your home to look its best. The problem in L.A. is that there's often not enough rain to give many kinds of plants a fighting chance.

After installing a sprinkler system, Los Angeles residents will be amazed at how much easier it is to get the look they want from their front yards. Non-native plants, especially, will benefit from getting just the right amount of moisture (not to mention all the sunlight any plant could ever ask for). If you go an extra step and put your system on a timer, you're likely to see even better results, with even less effort!

Common Los Angeles Sprinkler Systems
There's no doubt that the addition of a sprinkler system will make a marked difference in the ease and efficiency of lawn care, but not every kind of sprinkler is right for every situation. For example, a house in the hills with an expansive bed of grass will probably do better with rotating sprinklers with a moderate spray radius (much like the sprinklers you often see on golf courses); a home with a smaller, flatter yard, however, will probably be fine with a series of small, pop-up sprinklers that distribute water in a much smaller area.

Install Sprinklers

For gardens and flowerbeds, economical drip sprinklers are often the way to go. Basically a long tube poked with holes at regular intervals, a drip irrigation set up will provide water to your plants on a near individual basis. This gives each plant the water it needs to grow successfully, but wastes very little water in the process. Some homes might be best suited to only one kind of sprinkler system, but often a combination of different sprinklers in different places can be used to get the best results while wasting the least amount of water.

Los Angeles Sprinkler System Pricing
No situation is exactly the same, so no sprinkler system is going to be the perfect fit for every property. You can certainly go to your nearest home improvement center and purchase an irrigation system that you can put in yourself, but to have the most efficient and successful lawn possible, you'll probably want to consult with a professional. To have a sprinkler system professionally installed in L.A. you're looking at an average cost of about $1,500 or $2,000, with some high-end jobs going for up to $6,000.
