Burt and Mabel Young could be any typical married couple. They're extremely happy, but face hurdles like everyone else. When it's time to remodel their kitchen, Burt wants to do the work himself. Mabel puts her foot down and it puts a strain on their relationship.

Yes, when you need a project done and you wait and wait, but nothing seems to get done you start it yourself. Make sure you have done your research on how to do it. Get all the tools and materials have your plan and begin. Women can do most anything a man can do, don't be afraid to take on a project no matter what it is. You'll find once you start you will get help from your spouse to save face in the boy's club, friends and family. Then others will offer to help and it will get done. Go out there and just do it....

You know what the challenge is these days no returned phone calls or they come and never come back and then don't return the calls what is it with the no returned calls if they don't want the job just say so but the majority of service people today are not returning phone calls..In this recession you would think they would be happy to work but apparently not?? This is not just with me it is with all my friends and acquaintenaces also.

I am laughing my head off at this ad because as I sit here, I am LITERALLY waiting for the second drywall guy I called to come give me an estimate on a small remodel. HE was the one who insisted on an early mtg time and I have been waiting over an hour. I am calling him right now and cancelling. Seriously, how do these guys stay in business?? I am over a month behind on this project (and YES, I have done 90% of the work this far, I just can't drywall! Liz E. Sandy UT

Nice touch of realism and human. (yes you really need the subtitles) but the reality is I feel like we are stuggling to pull a wagon across the mud puddle.The Problem?? we are not on the same side of the puddle. A bit sloppy, with lots fo come and go ... going nowhere. Get on the same side of the probllem. Do you offer couselling service ;-) These (pirate) contractors in Ireland? my English not so good anymore... I dun unnerstan nobudy.

Yes, my mom needed a water heater, but wasn't taking the first step towards making a phone call. I told her don't worry about it, I'll find you contractors that are screened and approved to call you. It'll save you time and you'll like the experience of them calling to help you instead of you calling them for help. Yes, when something is broken or needs fixed, it always gets worse when he tries to fix it. I have learned just to call the "man" first.

Home improvement is not something I think most people really think through. If you have ever remodeled your house, you know that the project takes longer than expected and cost more than you planned 99.9% of the time. I think the key to keeping a happy marriage and family is careful planning, communication, and the expectation that the above might happen.
