The third attempt must be the charm. The first two tries were almost in vain. I was planning to comment that I couldn't get the video to start. Between logging in & writing this comment, IT WORKS! Second attempt was better than the first, by manually moving the "HAND" cursor.
Any comments that I have heard, Rate kitchens & bathrooms as #1 & #2, certainly not a wood deck or vinyl siding!

Solar window film is a GREAT upgrade for your windows at home and work. Really helps conserve energy which saves me lots of money. There's a 30% tax credit for getting it done as well. Not to mention it helps stop the fading and creates a more comfortable atmosphere. Gives me privacy too!! Much more affordable than replacement windows for sure. Such a great product.

can't decide between repairing/redoing the 30 yr old redwood deck or remodeling the attached garage to add space. the garage and the driveway are in the best part of the lot (lots of sun, away from the street, a great place to play, etc..) but if we remodel the garage where will we park? we are on a hill with lots of Oak trees that cannot be touched- not that I would want to touch them. what a pre summer question... ...

David Lupberger on the Best 2009 Home Projects to Return on Their Investment: Hi, I'm David Lupberger with ServiceMagic.com. In spite of the economy, homeowners are still updating or remodeling their homes... it maybe easier to sell, or just increase their own enjoyment of it. Today, we're going to look at what Remodeling Magazine list of the top ten remodeling projects that carry the most value in 2009.
Lupberger: 10. Finishing the basement. At number 10 on the list - finishing the basement. Tired of using hundreds of square feet for nothing but storage and giving your furnace a nice, big room to relax in? Finishing a basement adds a ton of square footage so you can relax with your family.
Lupberger: 9. Adding a composite deck. At # 9, if your house is missing something out back, then consider adding a deck made of composite materials, such as Trex.
Lupberger: 8. Attic bedroom. Not every attic is going to be large enough, but if your house has the space... adding an extra bedroom in your attic comes in at # 8 on this year's list.
Lupberger: 7. Bathroom remodel. Remodeling a bathroom always tops the list of the most popular jobs submitted to ServiceMagic.com. So, it's no surprise at #7 to see remodeling a bathroom on the list of projects that have the most value.
Lupberger: 6. Major Kitchen Remodel ($50-60k). The focal point of any house is nearly always the kitchen. A major renovation to an outdated kitchen can still bring a lot of value to your home and certainly makes it more appealing to potential buyers, if you're looking to sell.
Lupberger: #5 and #4. Window replacement (vinyl and wood). Some projects that have the most value aren't exactly things that a lot of people want to do. But replacing old, leaky windows in your home with new vinyl windows is # 5 on the list ... and wood-framed windows is # 4.
Lupberger: 3. Minor kitchen remodel ($20k range). Project 3 is the "less is more" approach to kitchen remodeling. Instead of gutting your entire kitchen and replacing everything with high-end materials and products, look at doing a smaller kitchen remodel.
Lupberger: 2. Vinyl siding. If your siding is old, consider the value of replacing it with new, vinyl siding. It may not only enhance the appearance of your home... but it comes in as the second-best project at bringing you the most bang for your buck.
Lupberger: 1. Adding a wood deck. Finally... the number one project that brings the most value for the cost - adding a wood deck. Real estate professionals say it adds value by increasing the amount of space you or the future owners of your home can use and enjoy.
Lupberger: This year, more than ever, homeowners will be looking for the best professional available to make sure their projects are done right. To find prescreened and customer-rated professional in your area for any project, go to ServiceMagic.com - Your Home Improvement Connection.
