Comment: I'm having problems with my rannai r95sli direct vent water heater. The unit is 3 years old. The unit comes on but the water doesn't heat up. After unplugging the unit and waiting about 5 minutes, sometimes, the flame comes on for about 10-15 seconds but goes back out. Other times it won't ignite at all. What would cause the flame to go out?

Comment: the upper thermostat was replaced on my water heater but the red button keeps tripping. my electrical breaker has not tripped but we did smell burning when the old thermostat was on the water heater. no buring smell since the new thermostat was installed but the water is still overheating.
