"The technician came out promptly and told us immediately that we would be better off getting a new fan rather than trying to fix the old one. We appreciated being told that immediately rather than have him spend two hours trying unsuccessfully to fix it. We were given an hourly rate over the phone, but we were not told that there was a minimum charge of two hours--and the guy was only at our house for 30 minutes."
