Comment: immediate need: getting static on landline phones. Have a 57 yr old home with what is probably original interior phone lines that may have been added to over the years. Have U-Verse. It is not that. Last U-Verse tech suggested it is the POTS (plain old telephone service), because of the age of our land lines, and suggested we have either ATT POTS or a private contractor look at it. Hence, I am wriiting to you. longer term need: plan to do remodeling including new entertainment set-up. Would love to wait and do the phone and entertainment AV needs at one time; however, do not think we can wait much longer to fix the phone problem.
Comment: We have a phone line coming from a TimeWarner cable modem, which is plugged back into the house phone wiring to provide phone signal to all the jacks in the house. Since early this week, the phones aren't working anymore -- we get nothing except some static, or sometimes a fast busy, as if a phone somehere was off the hook, but all other phones were unplugged and this still happens. We do get a clean dial tone at the back of the modem, however, so the problem must be in the house wiring. Other than that, I don't know what's going on. We also have a second line from AT&T coming into the house on Line 2, and connecting to a 2-line phone in the study, but that line is working fine.
