Comment: I am looking to install a commercial elevator in our building. The fire marshal here in Los Alamos said they use International fire code 2006 and NFPA 2003 1 and 101. I have been looking for information and I see that there is a hydraulic elevator that does not need a machine room for extra equipment. I am interested in that. The hoistway is 8 feet wide and 59” deep. There is an inset in the floor that is 7.5 inches wide from the wall toward the center of the hoistway on all four walls and it is 4 inches deep. The door ways are 80 inches tall and 72” wide. On the top floor there is a drywall ceiling that is 13” above the door frame but that could be ripped out and I think you would have an additional 4 feet of space above it. I would like to keep all the equipment needed in the hoistway only. With these dimensions can we have a carriage customized to fit - IF these are not standard dimensions? If you have time to come by and give us a quote, I would appreciate it. Thank you.
