Comment: There are seven pair of shutters. Some control bars are off, some metal strips are bent, some staples are missing, some dowels for slats are missing. The house was built in 1966 and therefore they are old but I would still like to get them repaired. They do not have to work great, just want them to not look broken.

Comment: The tilt rod broke off of the shutter. It was not connected by staples, but rather by a piece of plastic that was attached to the tilt rod. This piece of plastic entered into the louvers and was secured therein. I don't think it is a very high quality shutter, but fixing it would be preferable to replacing the whole set.
