Comment: I am getting ready to have a new roof and gutters put on (due to April hail storm). I am contemplating putting in 6" gutters (we currently have 4"). We recently had some minor water leakage in our basement and I have been told that part of the problem is that several downspouts are not leading far enough away from the house. I am interested in information and a quote on extending downspouts in some sort of trench.
Comment: A recent strong wind knocked down one section of gutters on the house. The gutter that fell down hangs about 15 feet above our deck. We need the gutter either rehung or replaced.
Problems: Downspout or gutter is clogged, disconnected or broken

Comment: Our home has drainage problems in several areas. A minor problem is that one gutter has minor warping (which opened a hole). A worse problem is probably a slight grading issue in one section of the front that can cause runoff from a gutter to accumulate near the house and overflow into a basement window well. Building up the well and grading with extra dirt is probably the best solution, but extending the gutter would also help. The third problem is that in extreme conditions (as last night, but less often than once per year), water from the street can overflow into our driveway and down through a channel which ends up going down the external stairwell into our basement. We'd probably need a retaining wall to fix that. <br />
