Comment: I need structural engineering calculations and plans so that I can modify the existing trusses in the attic of my home from an extended tie to an open plan. The existing trusses are of 2x4 construction spaced 24 inches from each other. I measure the roof span as being 24 feet wide and an overall height of about 91 inches (difficult to measure exactly). I do not plan to use the existing 2x4 bottom chord for storage load. I would like to run either 2x8's or 2x10's between the room support walls and shim them up by an inch or two so that their bottoms are slightly higher than the bottoms of the existing 2x4 bottom chords. I would prefer to keep them separate from the existing bottom chords, if possible, so they do not cause the ceiling drywall to bow. These new beams will provide necessary height for the blown-in insulation to do it's job. I would like to remove existing webs studs and install new ones from the bottom chord to the top chord to make an open plan style attic. I need
