Change Orders

Did your plans originally call for tile countertops, and now you're thinking marble? Don't worry - mid-stream changes like this are common. In fact, nearly all projects take different turns as they progress. If either you or your contractor decides to alter the project in some way, a change order must be submitted in order to amend the original contract.

A change order should include the following:

·	The definition of a change order, including the acknowledgement by both parties that the change to be made may alter the project's price and schedule
·	The requirement that the contractor will provide all labor and material for the additional work
·	An explicit description of the change to be made
·	The total labor and material cost incurred as a result of the change
·	If the project's schedule is altered, a revised estimated completion date
·	Signatures from both homeowner and contractor
