Here we see missing shingles.... A plumbing vent with no flashing. A chimney that need flashing corrected behind the siding. (There was no way to fix the leak at this chimney with out removing the siding and installing new flashing).
Here is a picture of your average plumbing flashing with a tear at the polyurethane seal. These seals wear out way before the shingles of your roof and I replace them regularly during my work week.
