About This Gallery

This kitchen remodel included removal of existing cabinets, countertops, appliances, cathedral ceiling, light fixtures and all plumbing fixtures. We installed a blend of cherry cabinets and natural maple to give this kitchen a unique look. The granite and backsplash really tied the design together and made this kitchen truly gourmet.

major k. pinehurst, nc kitchen too small for dark "heavy" looking cabinets/counter tops. ever spill jam on a dark, speckled stone counter top - ever try to find the spill, so you can clean it up? will go out of style in only a few years - light wood will again be in style. try a combination of medium wood tones. sole light wood panel end of island makes island look like unfinished. not enough storage spaces. storage areas too tall to reach by average female homemaker. "pickled" floors, bamboo?may take the curse from "too dark", too "heavy"mood, too "tall" cabinets. put "greenhouse" window over sink. makes kit. look wider/ more sunlight. a tall man probably designed this kit "made to impress guests"- by a man who never cooks at home - either dines out or catered/ordered in. good cocktail party area. nice tile colors and pattern behind stove. backsplach should match it. if island a little lower, raise eating portion, dirty dishes on island won't show - you like eating meal looking/smelling dirty dishes/pots/pans? oh, yummy! your guests will love that!!

After seeing the white one, I don't like the new one at all. Sure, it's an expensive-looking modernized kitchen, but it's too dark & crowded-looking in comparison; it's not at all inviting. I thought the original white kitchen was great. All it needed was some colorful acoutrements on the counters to spice it up. The white kitchen was very open & very bright, & would have been a very pleasant place to cook & hang out. Not so the new one. And that wonderful curved island! Why would anyone get rid of that?! Sorry guys, but I give this one a thumbs-down, even though it's clearly good-quality materials.

I agree with Kristen, I loved the curved island in the white kitchen. The new kitchen cupboards are nice but I prefer a lighter and brighter kitchen, My cupboards are white and walls are a very pale yellow. I intend to add an island similar to the curved island if I can find someone to build it for me at a reasonable price. Sorryl
