How We Got Started
I chose to work in this industry because Because it's more than a career or livlihood. It's a passion! Architecture is not something I do, It's something I am..I love working in Texas because it's God's country. The landscape is pure and the people are creative and friendly. I appreciate the distinctive Texas culture -- Texas is not a state. We started in this industry in 1990.We describe our business as Family owned and operated
Things You May Not Know About Me
Favorite Local Restaurant: The place with the best steak -- I crave flavor explosion and like a good medium rare steak with a robust red wine.
Favorite Travel Destination: WishingRock -- there's no place like home. It may not be heaven, but you can see it from here.
Favorite Sports Team: Dallas Cowboys -- born and bred a blue and silver bandit. Through good years and bad, I'm forever faithful.
Hometown: San Antonio, TX

How I Spend My Time Off: At home with the family / kids
Review by Janet K.in Helotes, TX Project: Hire an Architect to Design a Project
While construction on my remodel/addition proj. has not yet started Eric Faulkner, Wishingrock Homes has given me outstanding service all through the design process as well as the interaction between him, myself & the builder. I sought his advice on several issues & am very happy w/ the results. His work is creative & remarkably suited to my needs. He asks all of the right questions to elicit the look & feel I want for both outdoor & indoor spaces. Considering the fact that both my brother (a grad. of the Univ. of Chicago), & my sister's son ( a Harvard grad) are architects, I feel I was able to make an educated choice in selecting Eric!
Comment from Wishingrock Homes
Janet is a thoughtful client who truly appreciates what architects do. She challenged me to explore ideas and granted me full creative reign. We discussed design options including multiple finishes and ideas to design a new mom-suite with fully-functional kitchen, living area, remodeled bath and a new private deck. It's a spectacular example of how successful projects begin and end with a good owner-architect-builder team.

Eric is knowledgeable, easy to work with and obviously takes pride in his work. He will outline the pros and cons of decisions in the course of design and will diplomatically let you know when he thinks you are making a mistake. The final product of his design was excellent and the construction contractors who bid on our project remarked on the quality of the drawing set.
He has my wholehearted recommendation!

We gelled. This family was a joy and our mutual appreciation grew each time we met, learned more about each other and evolved the design. We upgraded their cramped kitchen into a multi-island, mult-function mecca. We replaced their inefficient fireplace with an eco-friendly show piece, converted their ordinary tub into a walk-in shower and expanded their tiny master closet into a functional store room. It was so much fun, let's do it again!

Review by a customerin San Antonio, TX Project: Hire an Architect to Design a Project
In the beginning, we presented Eric with a shopping list of requirements and desirements for our retirement home. We did the initial interviews with Eric and worked with some of his design tools. He said he would generate three sketches; one we would probably love, one that would probably so - so, and one that we wouldn't really care for. The first sketch he presented met our expectations about 95
He worked hard to help me identify builder candidates, and provided guidance for selecting the builder.
Before contracting Eric, we had a concept of what his services would cost; his services were substantially less that what we expected.
Great Job Eric.

This family was a treat. They are so well educated and detail-oriented that we were communicating from the beginning and never looked back. We shared photos, drew diagrams, met frequently and enjoyed our architect-client relationship. We were more than professional and owner, we became family!

Eric was interesting, knowlegeable, enthusiatic, and diplomatic. We hired him for several hours to visit with us, review our galley kitchen update, and advise us on air conditioning, lighting, flooring, and spacing issues. We are very pleased with his input , suggestions, and observations, and look forward to working with him in the future.

This is a wonderful inspired family who knew exactly what they wanted and invited me to share ideas for right-sizing and "greening" their town home remodel. We explored design, decor and infrastructure solutions to turn a nice town home into an exceptionally nice and earth-friendly town home.

very professional with lots of enthusiasm.

This was a delightful project. We brainstormed how to revive a 1940's rambler into a Tuscan Treasure. We sketched an office addition and a covered patio with tile roof, hearty cedar beams and columns, tapered stone wainscot and old-world stucco. Combine this with the existing pool and we created a authentic grotto in the city.

In Texas, it's not living unless it's outdoor living and this project created a 1,300 SF outdoor living/dining/kitchen + spa in true Texas proportions and hill country style.

Our experience with Eric was top notch! I would definately recommend Eric to our Family & Friends.

We created a flexible guest suite, weekend place or lounging place for family and dogs. It's a low-maintenance space with flagstone floors and exposed structure to give it outdoor feel and wearability.

He is very good about listening to customers needs and offer ideas that would help.

We designed a modern farmhouse on a natural conservation refuge. The client loved sustainable solutions so the home is solar ready and already included rainwater catchment and low-maintenance materials and pervious paving. It's a regular, earth-friendly party barn.
