Shrub Oak was thorough with their drawings. We are architects, and particular about the design. Bernie worked with us & revised the structural design to achieve what we were aiming for. At times, communications were not the best and completion of drawings took longer than expected, but overall had a good experience. Fair price compared to other engineers we bid out to. Would recommend to others with recommendation to allow approx. 1-2 months completion.

We were able to confirm the owner's concerns with a prior remodeling alteration that had seriously compromised the safety of the structure. We provided the owner an Engineering Report that outlined several alternatives, including one to correct the prior alteration, using steel beams, and return the structure to a safe condition.

We were able to provide the owner a full set of "Construction Plans (e.g. Architectural Plans)" to apply for a building permit. The design converted a 1950's 1 story to a modern looking 2 story Colonial with a Master Suite.

We were able to help the owner close out a prior Building Permit through Inspection & Evaluation of prior construction. This allowed him to obtain a valid and current Certificate of Occupancy.

This was a challenging project that allowed us to provide the homeowner with three different approaches to solving a serious problem. The deterioration of deck supports 25 feet in the air had caused a potentially life threatening structural condition.
