The Synthesis team had exceptional understanding and communication regarding my project. He listened well to my expectations and completed my project on time. Alex and his staff truly understand modernist design and the importance of flow and details when designing a remodeling addition. The project is still in process but Alex has been incredible. The reason I chose Alex was because he believed in the project. I had big ideas about building a house utilizing some green construction techniques such as ICF's, geothermal heating/cooling and others. I also had a small budget compared to the monolithic houses built by people with deep pockets that you see on TV. As I am acting as GC and performing most of the interior work myself I thought it was very do-able. Alex believed it could be done and that he could design it for me. He has had great ideas and so far, he has been excellent. I can't wait to get started building!!!

Better late than never, Alex! BTW, Todd has not totally finished yet -- have not had the final inspection...I haven't forgotten you want to see the finished product! I love, love, love the way it all turned out! My experience: After a miserable experience with a less-than-professional architect, Alex was great to work with. He listened to what I wanted, explained what could and could not be done, suggested improvements, and worked with the contractor I'd hired in a very professional manner! In the event of needing an architect in the future, I will contact SYNTHESIS Architecture + Planning again!

Being my first experience with an architectural service, I was continually trying to justify cost before the first nail was ever driven. As the project progressed the value of a well conceived plan became evident. The level of detail as to design and construction processes made me confident that my contractor was building to my desired specifications and when I wasn't quite sure of what I was looking at, Alex was on site to reassure me that the project was progressing as I had hoped. Although everyone tells me that this is a relatively small project, it is one that will be with me forever and my decision to use an Architect and Alex, in particular, has paid for itself in peace of mind alone.

We got off to a poor start. I asked for schematics of what I had drawn up with a couple of modifications and what I got was two totally different layouts. After some negotiations on his fee we agreed to move forward and Alex did a good job of giving me what I asked for.

I work to add value to a design. When a client proposes their own design, I make suggestions to improve it. I have been designing homes and home additions for many years and my clients realize the value of what I bring to the design stage. This particular client had their own design but asked for my suggetions. In fact I had said that if they just want the design drafted, they may be better off going to a drafting service. When I proposed a design that offered a much better return for their construction dollar, they revealed that they had their heart set on the design they initially gave me. We therefore worked with that design.
