Since 1994, Philip Darrell Lighting Design has been designing architectural lighting for residential, retail, museum, landscape and houses of worship. Mr. Darrell began his career in 1970, lighting for modern dance and ballet companies. During the 1970’s he worked for such companies as the Hartford Ballet, Boston Ballet, and the Opera Company of Boston. In 1978 Mr. Darrell moved from the stage to the screen, lighting for film and television. As a gaffer he lit thousands of TV commercials and over twenty feature films. His recent lighting design work includes Calvary Church in Stonington, CT, the Cathedral of Saint Luke in Portland, ME, Watch Hill Chapel in Watch Hill, RI, Noah’s Art (Noah’s Restaurant) in Stonington, the Marvin Showroom, Niantic Lumber, Niantic, CT, and numerous high end residences in New York, Connecticut, Rhode Island, and California. Mr. Darrell is a member of the International Association of Lighting Designers, and the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America.
