Pause Design Group, LLC practices all phases of design projects, from conceptual plans, interior architecture & drawings of homes & remodels, to the finished concepts of the interior decor. Always trying to interpret the uniqueness of each client, early engagement collaboration & involvement with the client is stressed, along with keeping an open mind to different design solutions. Designing a new home, or significantly changing an existing home, is a process of discovery. Like explorers, architects and their clients work together to discover a new place. And even though, as professional architects, we have designed many new homes and additions for a great variety of owners and sites and budgets, each time we start, it feels as if we were charting a new course, seeking a new place, one that neither we nor our clients have seen before. She listened carefully to what we wanted and came up with an excellent design that fit our needs very well, and some artisans who produced fine quality work. <br /> <br />Where we were disappointed was in some of the details. Although she was always there to give us advice on some of the ideas we came up with - and it was generally very good advice - there were gaps. For example, she designed a window that was too large for the space and we ended up having to discard the window we had ordered and replace it with a smaller one. I think if a client insists on her making all the decisions, she will make good ones, but we developed some ideas of our own as the project progressed, and we ended up feeling that she went too far in defering to our decisions. This isn't a criticism of her work, I think she was giving us what she thought we wanted. It's just a caution that the relationship between designer and client can be very ambiguous and it's important to establish clear expectations for each party. <br /> <br />At the end of the day, we came out with two very beautiful bathrooms, and her choices and decisions were critical to making that happen.
