I hired M&I Painting at the beginning of July, 2008. We didn't set a completion date due to other work being done on my home. But they had at least two months to complete the project.
<br />In the beginning the owner came a couple of times, did about a half a day of prep work. After a couple of weeks (of no one coming in the interim), he sent two workers and they worked 2-3 full days preparing the walls. After two weeks of no work being done and several phone calls, he sent one worker to begin preliminary painting. The worker informed me that the walls hadn't been properly prepared and couldn't be painted. He only spent a couple of hours doing some more prep work. After leaving several messages for the owner, he finally called back apologizing about the error. He was misinformed by his employees about the state of the walls. By this time it was nearing the end of September, 2008 (3 months later).
<br />Over the next several weeks, he sent one worker who worked two days; the owner came a several days (working half days) and a two-man crew who worked one day. During this entire time period, the owner never informed me of his work schedule for my home (never knew when/if workers were coming to my home, requiring me to keep my home unlocked at all times), never gave me status report on the work, always promising to send workers and always having an excuse when they didn't show up; never sent me a copy of the signed contract.
<br />Onlly after contacting ServiceMagic did the owner begin working (the last week of September, 2008), By then it was too little too late. After the first coat of paint was applied, we saw the negligent work M&I Painting had done. We had to bring in another painter to re-do all the work. The owner
