I hold both a bachelors and masters degrees in photojournalism and I've been shooting professionally for more than 30 years. While I love working in studio, perhaps some of my best work has been location, or lifestyle portraiture. I have the knowledge and equipment to combine available light with flash so that the image appears completely natural yet is lighted in the most flattering way. I often find myself shooting portfolios for professional models as I bring an understanding of the shots in their portfolios that will get them hired. A significant portion of my experience involves news, or event photography where the emphasis is on recording the critical moment that communicates the whole story of an event. While I have won numerous state and national awards, perhaps my best moment was when I didn't win, but was a finalist, for the Pulitzer Prize, photography's Holy Grail.
