Though his bid was not the lowest bid we received, we chose James because he proposed the most thorough preparation for our older home (vintage 1949), including power washing, scraping, sanding, primer, and caulking of every board on our wood siding.  He was able to recommend a carpenter, Mike Wilson, who could replace a few custom boards that had dry rotted.  His references were very strong, and he proved reliable and diligent in getting our home painted by he and his crew in a week despite losing a day to rain, coming out part of Saturday to get it completed.
