In 1985, after 3 years of managing job sites for a well-known developer in the Bay Area, Doug Fernandez received his General Contractors license and started his own design/build firm, Fernandez Designs and Builders (FDB), focused on residential design and construction. In 1989, Spenser Vieira joined FDB and after completing his architectural degree has become the Chief Designer for the firm. In April 2002, Doug partnered with David Durr to form a sister corporation, Fernandez and Durr Construction (FDC) to focus primarily on commercial projects. David’s background of manufacturing and mechanical engineering, corporate operational management and over 10 years of commercial and residential construction and planning provide the foundation for evaluating commercial projects not just from a general contractors perspective but from a practical users perspective as well.
