Review by Evelyn C.in Ashburn, VA Project: Inspect a Home
Steve was prompt, thorough, and explained things in very easy to understand terms. He took his time on each floor, explaining safety features as well in my newly constructed home. He caught things that even the builders project manager did not see. He was so thorough that when he was leaving, he came back in twice to double check certain things and to make sure he did not miss anything. I was very pleased with this company and will definitely use them again!!

Review by Roger S.in Falls Church, VA Project: Inspect a Home
Steve was very late & did the inspection without notes or a checklist (bad sign). Had I not spotted it, we would've missed 1) evidence of a skylight leak 2) leaking pipes at the hw heater & 3) water seeping in from the foundation in the basement 4) rotting wood at a column. Finally, a furnace specialist said that we would need to tear out and replace all the duct work of a 2nd AC system because it was improperly installed but Steve questioned the expert's assessment in front of the seller's agent when he was clearly not qualified to do so. I paid for a lead dust test but got mold results instead & nothing from the lab saying no lead dust.
Comment from Heartland Home Inspections-USA
On the time for the inspection I was late, a tow truck brought me to the inspection, due to truck breakdown, His comments are proven otherwise by written statements. Given in my report. I had some disagreement with the HVAC report statig the Air Supply CFM volume? As a retired mechanical engineer, my training and engineering qualifications are above the service requirements. I provided enough details for the attorney to cancel the contract. His objective was met.

Review by a customerin Woodbridge, VA Project: Test for Toxic Materials & Mold
Steve Atchison came in and did the mold testing at a reasonable price. I recieved part of the report some days later, but not all the reports which he promised to give me. Steve could not explain the reports and told me to call the lab, but the lab did not explain the results well, either. I also think he should not be in the position to advise the buyer (I am selling the house) about the mold treatment procedure because he is not licensed to do it.
Comment from Heartland Home Inspections-USA
I am state certified and registered with the state. I advise clients to call me or check with the lab for questions, if I can not answer their questions, outside of my scope of expertise. I have an open door policy to talk with clients through any issues, but some choose to complain prior to bringing to my attention, for mutual understandings and agreement. You can please most clients, but not all. I am always available to discuss and answer questions, my policy is the customer is always right, but when they have broken english its possible they dont understand biogocical terms from PHD and laboratory terms. The report speaks for itself.

Review by a customerin Springfield, VA Project: Test for Toxic Materials & Mold
SA was very friendly & seemed competent. I think his prices were high. My primary problem with his service was my call to the lab to discuss his test results. This lab gave me a very evasive response to my all-important question: Do I have a mold problem that requires immediate attention because it poses a health risk (whether minor or significant). If the lab SA uses cannot give such answers then he should find a lab that can. There must be a lab in the Washington, DC area employing an industrial hygienist or allergist who is able to answer consumer questions regarding the potential for the mold in their home to cause health problems.
Comment from Heartland Home Inspections-USA
I am sorry to hear the lab feed back and will follow through to get the the questions answered, as for as Mold goes, however \please understand the LAb is science/aerobiology, and you are to take the lab report to your industrial hygenist or doctor. The intrepretation of the lab results is for your doctor to determined if the mold issues are related to any allergies symtoms you have. That is what you requested for your Doctors info needed it. Sorry for not being able to be yur doctor and for the lab feed back, wish you would have let me know this?
