Project: Repair a Deck or Porch
They were great! We could not have been more satisfied. Jacob and his crew showed up when they said they would, were straight with us about the work and cost (and gave us a good price), were always tidy and polite, and did a great job overall (even exceeded it at times - while doing some roof work Jacob took it upon himself to clean off years worth of pine sap from our skylight, free of charge!) We also appreciated how flexible they were with us: my husband wanted to do some of the work himself and Jacob really worked with him to make that balance happen. I'd give an extra star if I could.

Project: Install Cabinets
Handelman Construction installed a built-in cabinet unit for us. They were not the lowest price bidder, but we felt very comfortable they would do a good job and do it quickly. They gave us a quote right away, and had immediate availability to do the job. They stuck to their original price quote, and finished the job on time. They ran into challenges during the job, which were addressed and solved very cordially and to our satisfaction by Jacob. Communication & customer service were excellent throughout the process. Even after the job was finished and paid for, Jacob came back a week later to fix a trim piece that had broken. Amazing!

Project: Repair a Deck or Porch
All together they did a good job. On the fence they built , the cedar had large cracks and one was replaced but we were told that this was a natural characteristic of Cedar and should not effect the wood. We said that we will call them in case of issues. Jacob Handleman agreed. Also on sanding our rails, some areas were missed , but they will return to finish. I think it will be done and we will be ok. With it all.

David and his crew were absolutely outstanding. Everything was done on time and on budget and the quality of work is outstanding. David is a very thoughtful person and recommends the most practical solutions, not the most expensive ones. They will be my first choice for whatever needs to be done in the house!

Project: Remodel a Bathroom
They made a major effort not to disrupt our lives (stored work materials outside, vacuumed adjacent area daily, etc.). They gave timely warnings of potential issues and increases. They did good work, finished as fast as possible ( delays were clearly not their fault), and were not seriously over original estimate. We would apsolutely hire them again.

Project: Install Ceramic or Porcelain Tile
Jacob and his crew did an outstanding job. We are delighted with every aspect of their work , from staying within the budgeted estimate, the time line to complete the job, but most important the standard of the kitchen tile work was outstanding. The communication with Jacob was excellent, prompt and professional. We would definitely recommend this contractor.

Project: Remodel a Bathroom
March 11, 2009 I had my bathroom completely remodeled. Jacob Handelman Construction have taken down the walls and floor, and removed the existing toilet, vanity, sink and bathtub. I supplied the marble tiles, contemporary vanity, vessel sink, contemporary drop-in bathtub/shower, contemporary toilet, ceiling fan/light, and mirrors. Jacob Handelman Construction did all the required installations. I asked Jacob to install marble on all the bathroom walls as well as the floor. Jacob performed several inspections on all this work. I noticed that he demanded perfection from his workers. I especially admired the excellent work provided by Jacob. He is very astute in all areas of bathroom remodeling. He found many defects in the carpentry of the new vanity that I bought. He found and fixed leeks in the new plumbing parts that I supplied. He spoke to the vendors about these defects. This allowed me to get cash credit from them. At the end of the project, I noticed that water in the bathtub went down the drain very slowly. I had a certified plumber look into this problem. The plumber concluded with certainty that the pipes were frozen. However, Jacob traced the problem to the basement of the condominium building and determined that the problem was not frozen pipes. The problem was clogged pipes. Jacob had this problem fixed immediately. This bathroom, which was just completed, is the prettiest bathroom that I have ever seen in my life! He has performed an excellent job. I would give Jacob Handelman Construction five-plus stars. Charles

Project: Hire a Handyman
Jacob is terrific. I interviewed several contractors and felt most comfortable with Jacob, who was honest and candid. He made excellent suggestions on what was needed and got the work done in a timely manner. Very responsive and helpful. His workmen showed up when expected and did a terrific job. I would highly recommend him.
