Jim is a meticulous guy and his work is gorgeous. He is a craftsman. He not does high quality work but will suggest alternative fabrics for the job which in our case saved some money. I was also impressed that he evaluated the furniture right up front as to its suitability for reupholstering. His assessment assured me that the investment in recovering the furniture was solid. I'd call him in a minute for another project.

prompt, friendly, eager and cooperative, made an old chair into a beautiful piece of furniture...it was sturdy before, but not beautiful. Incredible effort to work with patterned fabric.

James is a second generation upholsterer. He's honest, knowledgeable, helpful and skilled. The fabric I used on my two vintage chairs was gorgeous and well priced and purchased at Fabric Showplace in Watertown. The female staff there were very helpful and patient. I contacted Fabric Showplace for a quote for re-upholstering the two chairs but the guy who does it is arrogant, self-involved and clearly and most definately NOT customer service oriented at all! It was an immediate turnoff. Thank goodness for James at E.C. Butler. The chairs were delivered on time and really well done.

It was a pleasure working with Jim. This was my first time reupholstering a piece of furniture. He patiently walked me through the process - let me browse through tons of fabric samples. Would definitely recommend to anyone.
