Dessert Paint Company was founded in 2008 by Graham Dessert. Graham has an extensive back ground in painting and business franchising. Graham started painting houses 16 years ago in high school as a summer job. It steadily grew into a career for Graham as he went through college and started his own business in 2001. He grew his business from 1 employee to 31 employees painting hundreds of homes. Graham closed his business down in 2004 to work for a national painting company as a franchise developer. Here Graham had the experience of hiring, training, and developing hundreds of employees. Graham learned the importance of outstanding customer service and outstanding workmanship. Now, Graham is a seasoned business professional and contractor ready to take on many projects.

I chose to work in this industry because Because I am good at it. I have extensive training in customer service..I love working in the Kansas City area because People who live here are more down to earth than anywhere else..We started in this industry in I started painting houses in high school with my brothers and sisters (there are 10 total) back in 1994. When I was in college, I started my own..We describe our business as Rooted in the community

  • Favorite Travel Destination: Every year my wife, kids, and I travel to Denver where we have family. We make a few trips a year to Keystone for fun. I enjoy snowboarding.
  • Favorite Sports Team: Kansas City Chiefs I have not missed a game in the last 7 years. A close second is the KU Jayhawks.
  • Hometown: I was born in a military family and traveled quite a bit. We have been in Leavenworth since 1993. This is where I call home!
  • Tell me about your family: I have been married 6 years and have 4 children. I come from a large family where 8 of 10 siblings have worked in the painting business.

Project: Paint or Stain Single Items
I had two walls painted, one of them red.. I supplied the paint and even though the owner and the painter knew the one wall was going to be red, neither said anything about a primer upfront. he ended up putting 4 coats on the wall. 2 wks later I put up a decal and paint started pulling off in huge bubbles. after emailing the owner he called and left a msg suggesting I call a paint store to see what they say about why this would happen, I did and it is because there was no primer and to many layers of paint. the owner was also suppose to email me a list of additional question and then we can go from there but I never heard from him again!

I was notified by email that there was an issue from the customer. I responded immediately with a phone call and an email. I stopped by the customers home to see the issue as well. I spoke with her initially but was not able to gain access to the see what the problem was. After gathering information, I determined that multiple coats of a color with high pigment (reds, oranges, yellows) takes multiple weeks to cure and will not take adhesive until after it has cured 30 days later. Adding a primer coat would not prevent this issue. I offered to repaint the wall witin 10 days of being notified the issue. I did not get a response.

Owner was very friendly and told us exactly what they would do and how they would do it before starting the job. We had some repair work that needed to be done before painting and we were satisfied with the outcome. I chose a three color combo and the workers did a very professional job in a timely manner. The owner followed up and found some touch up areas that even we missed seeing.

The job was done quickly and satisfacttory. Later, after they were gone, I found paint splattered on areas that were not suppose to be painted.

I contacted the customer as soon as the crew was finished. The homeowner had indicated that there were a few areas on the wood trim that had roller splatter on them. Within 1 hour of initially completing the job, we were back at the home cleaning the trim.

He Immediatley contacted us and worked out a time to sit down with us and go over the estimate. We received a written estimate and the work was completed as promised. He was exceptional, our deck looks wonderful, we will definitely ask for his service again in the future. He was very courteous and professional!!

Awesome personality of owner and his team. Very professional. Took their time to do it right and completed on time and on budget. I would give them 6 stars. To anyone considering them, you will not be sorry, hire them!

Great experience! They worked hard, even showed up early. Graham made sure he understood exactly what we wanted in terms of paint colors. The workers were friendly. They cleaned up everyday. They even accommodated working around our other projects with no issues. A very professional outfit. The house looks great! Thanks Service Magic for the referral.
