We shopped around alot and interview many contractors before we selected CJE decks to build our deck. We called his references and looked at decks that he had built. He came highly recommened. His workmanship is great. He has a lot of knowledge in his field and is very helpful with suggestions and ideas to achieve the look and fit that is right for you. He just finished our deck. We do wish we would have made the steps wider. We love our new deck!.

Let me start with the positives of working with CJE Decks: Chuck was the lowest quote I received by at least $1K on a deck that was 14' X 18'. He also included a 10% discount for Active Duty or Retired Military, which I thought was great. Once we finally got township approval for the footings, Chuck knocked out the framing fairly quickly and efficiently. Now for the bad: Chuck is a single man team, unless his son is available to help. What that means is that your project will take a REALLY long time. Case in point. - I signed the contract in mid June and Chuck finally finished the job mid October! He also doesn't return calls promptly.

Work started on July 22 and did not finish until SEPTEMBER. The work quality of CJE decks is excellent, the speed and communications is poor. After passing days of beautiful weather he shows up the day after the hurricane, on a Sunday. It makes no sense. The owner operator, Chuck, has no crew. He works by himself or with his son. He will work for a day or two and then disappear without a word for a week or more. When we can finally reach him, he tells us the parts are back ordered. Again, his price was good, his work quality excellent,if you are a patient person in no hurry to get a deck done, then Chuck is your man

took several months to finish a small project. i believe he had several other projects going at the same time but blamed delay on weather and back ordered parts. Poor communication and poor timing. He mostly finished our deck on the weekend at odd hours.

I based my decision to hire Chuck on the many positive reviews he had previously received. He did not disappoint me. His attention to detail is evident by the end result - an outstanding deck for my family and I to enjoy. Also, Chuck is a die-hard Phillies fan and I really enjoyed our Phillie stories!
