He navigated through the menu on my TV using the remote and told me it is probably the board that broke so I would need to replace it. He told me it wasn't worth the repair and told me to get a new TV. He spent literally 5 minutes doing the diagnosis without even touching or for that matter opening the TV.  He then told me that I need to pay the appointment fee. I paid but in the end feel this wasn't worth it because I can come in click a few buttons on a remote and then tell the customer that he needs to buy a new TV myself. Just expected more.
