Project: Build a New Closet
The project turned out better than I expected. The quality of work and attention to detail is very apparent and I will definitely recommend Avatar to other people.

July 2010, Peggy has rehired us to replace her tired and worn entry door/storm door with a new wood entry door featuring stain custom-matched to her interior millwork, quality exterior varnish and replacement door casement moldings - also stained to match. Project: Remodel a Bathroom
Dan did a nice job and came up with good ideas for "problems" that arose during the remodel. He was very knowledgable of current products and trends. I would recommend anyone using Avatar that isn't familiar with the intricacies of a bathroom remodel, request the contractor attend/coordinate meetings with suppliers of bathroom furniture, in hopes to ensure a smooth ordering process and a more precise quote. Also, if pictures/descriptions of "standard" items put in quote (tub and toilet) were provided by the contractor prior to ordering, surprises could be avoided (our tub was about 1/2 as deep as the one replaced). Tile work done was great!

Job ended up being much larger than was hoped, but Dan did a great job and everything turned out fabulous.

The work was of good quality, and fairly priced. In spite of some scheduling difficulties, the work was performed in a timely manner,and there was no clean-up for me.

Project: Hire a Handyman
I had a door replaced (jam and door). The interior trim was not re-installed and the threshold was not supported, it now bends when you step on it and he left a cut edge of sheet rock exposed immediately next to the threshold, where it will certainly be destroyed by normal use. I showed this exposed sheet rock to the "pro" and he recommended that I find a way to cover it up.......not a finished job. I will not use Avatar again.

Thank you for your response, Chris. Chris's ambition to improve cost efficiency by attempting the installation himself led to the purchase of a door with incorrect measurements for the intended location. Our offer to disassemble the door, retrim and reinstall for a complete, professional fit was curiously denied indicating that it was "only a garage".

Project: Install Interior Trim and Decorative Moldings
Dan was wonderful to work with, he did a beautiful job on my railing. He was always pleasant, very neat and professional. I have an old house, the railing application was challenging, Dan did a very creative solution! I have already recommended him to a neighbor for a bathroom remodel! I would definitely ask for him again! Thanks Dan!

Nothing but professional and courteous all throughout the process. A great plan of action communicated up front and great follow-through. Avatar's work helped me complete those finishing touches to make my house a home reflective of me and my style. I'd hire them back in a minute.
