Outstanding!  The previous business owner, Bob Hill, came out multiple times, was VERY responsive to our questions and made multiple CAD drawings/revisions at no initial cost. Has given an itemized, cafeteria style contract.  Suggested options we hadn't considered that actually reduced the cost of the final contract. His son Terry, the current business owner, has been very responsive to questions/concerns.  They have kept with the  construction schedule, for the most part, and have come in under budget so far. <br />The other builders I contacted were much less helpful. I never contacted Buena Vista-too far away. <br />RTR: Very hard to contact.  Apparently were moving their office at the time. Came out once, did a few measurements, said it would cost about $100-130/sf, left and never called back. <br />DFG: Don came out, did cursory measurements, gave a similar price per SF.  About a week later e-mailed with a quote for TWICE what ACR asked and said that wouldn't be solid until they they had a draftsman come out and get some real measurements and make some preliminary drawings....and this would cost us $2-500 BEFORE we signed a contract. Was advised could vary as much as 20% either way. <br />My overall impression is that ACR-Terry Hill really is in the business of remodeling old homes/working closely with homeowners and the others are mostly new home builders unused to much homeowner contact and are simply doing this as side work.

Terry moved the project along rapidly at the beginning. We were pleased with the initial progress. However, his electricians messed up the cable TV lines. His framers prematurely cut a hole in the wall. We waited months before a door was fixed and even then it is still difficult to open. We still have shingles that blew off of the peak of our house that have not been replaced. Our landscape on the side of the project (rocks and bricks) is ruined from the concrete work. Trying to get a hold of Terry has been difficult as it seems he has moved on to new and more lucrative projects.
