Alternative Energy Technologies, Inc. is Southern California's alternative energy experts.  We provide and install alternative energy systems in the San Diego area.   Our mission is to further preserve our environment and natural resources, while adding significant value to our customers’ lives through alternative energy technologies and solutions. There are various forms of alternative energy, all of which use forces of nature and convert those forces into electrical currents. The most common forces are sun, wind and water.  Most alternative energy systems utilize photovoltaic panels that convert energy from the sun to usable electricity for a home, farm or business. There are some locations in the Southern California mountain and desert areas that have adequate wind to make wind generators a feasible power source, as well. Alternative Energy Technologies, Inc. was originally a division of Hardy Diesels and Equipment, Inc. and was known as Hardy Solar. For years, Hardy Diesels and Equipment, Inc. had supplied diesel generators for powering remote locations throughout the world.  Hardy was one of the first to realize the benefits of using banks of batteries to supply power without having to run a generator full time. In 1997, Bob Carson, a semi-retired construction executive who lived “off grid” using Hardy's equipment, proposed that the company expand to include more alternative energy equipment in its offerings.  Carson was asked to head up this new division and served as its CEO for eight years.  During the last five of those eight years, much of Hardy Solar's business was derived from sales and installation of grid-tied systems. These are systems where electricity generated from solar or wind is fed back to the grid.  The end users are charged for the net difference between what they use and the power they generate.  At the end of 2004, Carson formed Alternative Energy Technologies, Inc. to concentrate on this specialized market. Alternative Energy Technologies, Inc. and Hardy Diesels and Equipment, Inc. continue to maintain a close and harmonious working relationship to this day. Few companies can offer the depth of experience found in the staff of Alternative Energy Technologies, Inc. Bob Carson owns an 80 acre ranch and vineyard in Potrero, California.  For well over 15 years, power for operation of the ranch has all been produced on site using a combination of wind and solar, with generator backup.   Chief engineer, James Pinon, who holds a degree in physics from the University of California, San Diego, is a true solar believer. James left as a senior engineer with a prominent California company because he truly believes in alternative energy and its future for mankind.  He decided that this is where his future lies. Ken Fritz, a long time sales specialist in the building materials field spent seven years with Hardy Diesels and Equipment, Inc. as a Product Specialist before joining Alternative Energy Technologies, Inc.
