| Comment: I want to install a water softning system for my home which is served by a well that is located in a well housing. I tested the water at the well head, and the hardness is 250 grains. The existing, older water softener in the main house is clearly not working, as the water tests at 250 in the house as well. Alkalynity is 240, ph is 7.5 at the well house and 6.5 in the house, and all other elements (Iron, Chlorine, Copper, Nitrate and Nitrite) are 0 both locations. <br /> <br />There is currently an older water softner installed in the main house, but I would like to remove it and replace it with a new, sturdier model located in the well pump house that would soften water for both buildings and for the spa. There is currently an iron filter installed in the pump house. <br /> <br />Sizing: The home consists of two seperate buildings, with three bathrooms, and a +/- 350 gallon spa (hot tub - we empty an refil it from a hosecock every couple of months).
