Comment: Our house is two stories built about 1850. It has a one-story kitchen/dining room wing built in 1900. We replaced all upstairs windows and some downstairs but nine windows have wooden storm windows. Main house has a dirt basement. Kitchen/dining room was built on dry stone foundation, with 2-inch hardboard insulation. underneath.We heat both areas with propane heaters. Exterior wall at one end of main building was not insulated. Second floor walls and attic were insulated, Kitchen/dining room walls and ceiling also were insulated. All areas, 4-inch fiberglass paper-backed.
