| Comment: We purchased a home where a basement fireplace has been removed. We were not aware of this fact until our wall was all wet from sprinkler and rain water. We started digging outside next to our house and found the remnants of the fireplace. The contractor who did the renovation used concrete block to supplement as a foundation, but did not seal it as far as we can tell. We have already removed the moldy drywall, baseboards, and insulation. We now need to prevent the problem from occurring again and have our wall patched up.
