Comment: We would like to have a wood-burning stove installed in our living room that will serve as a secondary heating source for our downstairs in the winter (we have a tri-level, and the downstairs is always cold). Because our heat and cooking stove are both electric, we think it would be great to have a secondary source of heat and cooking in case of power outages, particularly in the winter. <br /> <br />The hope is that a wood-burning stove would allow us to use our heat pump less overall if the warmth could reach throughout the entire home. Our house is about 1800 sq. feet total, including the garage...w/o garage, it's closer to 14000 sq. feet. <br /> <br />The home is about 10 years old. We see the stove in the living room, which is the middle-level of the tri-level. This level has the kitchen/dining room and the living room. The third level has all bedrooms and bathrooms. 1st level is garage and the laundry room.
