| Comment: On 8/21/11, I noticed that I had crack in the paint on the bottom part of a window sill and the surrounding area appeared wavy. I got up on a ladder to inspect the area and noticed considerable condensation around the area. My proceeded to peel back some paint and it revealed rotted wood underneath. The wood at that point was very brittle in the affected area (approximately 12-18 inches). I inspected the exterior caulking and saw where there was a crack in the caulk directly on the other side of the wood rot area. I'm imagining this is where the water intrusion was taking place. I have since re-caulked this area to prevent further water intrusion until repairs can fully be done. I need all affected areas repaired and/or replaced as well as having the point of water entry remedied to prevent further damage. |
