Comment: We pulled up carpteting and the concrete underneath is not in bad shape, but is ugly. I don't want to put new carpeting down. A friend tried to apply a layer of leveling compound so we could paint/stain it, but it keeps cracking. Not sure how much of that would need to be removed, or if a new layer can just be poured on the existing floor. The floor is about 600 square feet. Right now I am trying to decide between concrete and tile floor. I wouldn't anticipate hiring anyone for another 3 months or so.
