| Comment: We had a new bow window installed in our Cape Cod Home in 1999. The window replaced a smaller single window. We noticed that the inside sill of the window had begun to get soft and when we poked around found that it was rotting from underneath. The cause appears to be condensation, as the window may not have been adequately sealed from the warm air inside the house. It appears that the studding underneath has also started to rot. Otherwise the window is in great shape and we do not want to replace it, just repairing the sill and sealing it correctly to prevent a reoccurence. |
