Project Name: Hire an Architect to Design a Project
Project Location: Brattleboro, VT
Date: 04/28/2010
Project Type: New structure
Building Type: House
Desired Completion Date: Less than 2 months
Request Stage: Ready to Hire
Comment: I would explain our goals this way. First, we want a house that won't leak; other than that, it's a "compared to what" process. Carbon footprint, cost effectiveness, a tight, well-built house that takes advantage of passive solar gain and optimizes energy use, are all part of what makes a good house today. The questions for me would be: At what cost? What benefit? What are the aesthetics? What is the "better" thing to do? So the answer to your question is some consideration should be given to all those things, but we are not totally cost/benefit or any one thing driven.
