Just because you don't dream of becoming the next Martha Stewart doesn't mean that you can't throw an awesome wedding shower. Use some of these ideas to get your creative juices flowing as you start to plan you friend's special event.

Idea #1: Bad Bridesmaid Wedding Shower

This one is sure to be a hit with non-traditional brides. Ask all of the guests to show up in the worst bridesmaid dress they've ever been forced to wear, complete with the crappy shoes and jewelry that they've since hidden in the back of their dressers. Swap horror stories of weddings gone awry as the bride opens her gifts.

Idea #2: Wet and Wild Wedding Shower

If you live in a climate that screams "hot summer nights," consider throwing the entire wedding shower in the pool. Blow up some lounge chairs, grab some floating drink islands and jump in the water for a cool alternative to the typical shower setup. Stack the gifts on the diving board, where you'll erect a throne for your bride so that she can stay dry during the opening process.

Idea #3: Mardi Gras Wedding Shower

Nothing says party quite like Mardi Gras. Start the shower off at the kitchen table, where all of the guests can create masks to wear throughout the party. Next, blend up some Hurricanes (with or without alcohol) that the guests can enjoy as the bride opens her gifts. Make sure to play some jazz music in the background to create a more festive atmosphere.

Idea #4: "This is Your Life" Wedding Shower

Surprise your bride by inviting surprise guests to her wedding shower. Have her sit in a chair wearing a blindfold as you describe each special guest. Have her guess who has just arrived by using the clues in the description. For each guest she gets right, the bride earns special points. If she earns a certain amount of points, she wins a special prize, like a massage or beauty treatment.

Idea #5: Beauty Salon Wedding Shower

Set up a series of foot baths and pedicure tools for each guest. Have a selection of body lotions and special perfumes that can be shared by everyone as they pamper themselves. If you have a little money to burn, consider hiring a few professionals to come in to pluck and prune each guest as they sit back and relax.

Idea #6: The Ex-Boyfriend Roast Wedding Shower

This shower only works with a bride who dated more than a couple of people and has a great sense of humor. Make a list of all of the bride's ex-boyfriends. Put them in a hat and have guests draw names. After a few minutes of preparation, each guest then shares the tragic story of how the bride's life might have ended had she chosen to marry one of her exes. The point? To illustrate how many frogs she had to kiss before she found her prince.

Idea #7: The Chick Flick Wedding Shower

Does your bride love all things Cameron Diaz and Julia Roberts? If so, create a movie montage of great bridal moments in film. Then, have everyone grab scorecards to rate each moment from one to ten. The person whose scores most closely match the bride's, wins.

Idea #8: The Time Capsule Wedding Shower

What better to do before getting married than to create a time capsule of everything you did when you were single? Have each guest bring something that reminds them of their experiences with the bride as a single girl. Before each item gets placed in the capsule, guests share the story of what the item means and how it relates to the bride. The capsule is then given to the bride to bury in the backyard of her first home. When her future daughter gets married, she will dig up the capsule and share it at her daughter's shower.

Idea #9: The Yearbook Photo Wedding Shower

Have everyone come dressed as if they were re-shooting their high school senior yearbook photo. Grab funny accessories, like tennis rackets, electric guitars, and stuffed animals to use as props. Points go to the person with the cheesiest poses, making sure to embarrass the bride as much as possible in the process.

Idea #10: The Life Map Wedding Shower

Weddings are a great time for personal reflection, so create a shower that takes that idea to the next level. Give everyone a piece of paper and some markers to create a life map for themselves and for the bride. The maps should include things that are funny (when you think the bride and groom will have their first fight) and things that are serious (when you think the couple will first start having children).
