Siding Prep Steps

A Workable Workspace
Make sure that the area around the perimeter of the home is clear of anything that can be cleared. Obviously, your air conditioner compressor and window wells cannot be moved, but if there are toys, grills, lawn statues, hammocks and the like that can be moved far from the house, do so to provide your siding contractors with an easy place to work.

Stockpile Area
Rather than constantly walking back to their work trailer for more material, siding professionals will stack the sheets of siding in one area or several areas so they don't run themselves to death. When your siding professional is walking around the house with you, ask him where he would like to pile the stock so that you can be sure those areas are clear.

Garage Door Access
If you are siding your house, most likely the garage doors will need to be sided as well. Make sure the contractors will have access to the garage door. They can work much faster if they actually have an opener, so provide an extra one if you can't spare your own.

Weather Concerns
If the weather is particularly extreme in your area or during the time of year when your home is being sided, be sure to allow your siding contractors access to a water faucet so they don't get dehydrated. Also allow them a place to warm up, and a place for them to get out of the sun. Opening the garage can be the answer to both. If you have a picnic table or an area where you don't mind them eating, tell them where this is. If you like, provide a bucket or trash can for their trash.

Pretty simple. Not much to prepare for when installing new siding. However, this small list can really help the siding professionals to work faster and more efficiently, not to mention that these steps show them that you are thinking of them, even if you're not home.
