Across the country, the importance of the automobile is more than apparent. However, in no city is having a car as crucial as it is in Los Angeles. Garage flooring is, along with all the other garage components, a concern for many homeowners in L.A. In a city where the car is king, there's every reason to maintain a nice place to park it.

Los Angeles Garage Flooring Options
Of course, most garage flooring in Los Angeles is a simple slab of concrete. There's nothing inherently wrong with this type of flooring. In fact, a plain concrete floor is a perfect fit for many garages in the area. On the other hand, L.A. is concerned as much with appearances as it is with vehicles; whether you like it or not, it's a difficult thing to deny. For those who want their garage to be a little more than simply passable, there are a few interesting options available.

Rubber tiles and mats are an excellent Los Angeles garage flooring option for anyone who spends a lot of time working in that space. Resilient and resistant to oil spills, this kind of flooring is easy to install (you may very well be able to do the job yourself), and it comes in a wide variety of styles and colors. Just because your garage isn't the first choice for entertaining guests doesn't mean that it couldn't do with a little splash of your own individual taste.

Epoxy coated concrete is another excellent option for those who want the durability of concrete without the dull, gray appearance. When it comes to practicality and aesthetics in garage flooring, Los Angeles commercial garages and car dealerships have long known the benefits of this kind of floor. Once again, it is resistant to oil spills and available in a wide variety of colors and styles. Unfortunately, it is far more difficult to install than rubber mats or tiles. Epoxy coating kits are available for those who want to do the job themselves, but their quality and ease of use varies greatly. In most cases, this is a job for a professional.

Los Angeles Garage Flooring for Remodels
Many homeowners have decided that an extra bedroom or living space is more of a necessity than a place to park their vehicles. Garages provide a versatile space that can be altered to be used for any number of different purposes. If you're willing to spend the money, you can have any kind of flooring you like, from hardwood to ceramic tile, installed in your garage, but often this kind of project is pricey enough without the additional cost of luxury flooring.

Many have gone the contemporary route in this situation, and opted to simply polish and stain their existing concrete floors. Unlike painting, concrete staining is a permanent pigment that literally changes the color of the concrete's surface. The result is an organic and beautiful floor that is incredibly low maintenance. Many modern condos and buildings choose stained concrete for their floors because it is easy to take care of, and will probably not need to be replaced for a very long time.

Prices of Garage Flooring in Los Angeles
The cost of a new garage floor in L.A. will vary quite a bit depending on what material you choose. Rubber mats and tiles often start at around $2.50 per square foot. Professional epoxy coating is often between one and two thousand dollars for an average sized one car garage. When you get into the price of garage flooring for a new living space, each material should be similar in cost to what it would be to install in your home.
