In many ways the heart of the house, the kitchen is one of the most remodeled rooms of any home. Whether looking for more space, better appliances, or just to give the room a facelift, homeowners all over the country have put a lot of money and time into making their kitchens the best they can be. There are many different approaches to a room makeover, and for a kitchen, the one you choose needs to be functional as well as good-looking.

To really get the most out of a kitchen you need to do a bit more than simply rework the surface. Space is often an issue, and upgrading appliances can make a big difference, as well. Built in cabinets, ovens, and refrigerators top the list when it comes to making a kitchen more efficient, and they aren't hard on the eyes, either.

Built In Refrigerators
The built in refrigerator is a must for the modern kitchen. People seem to be more and more attracted to them every year, quite possibly because they blend in so nicely with the room. Many built in refrigerators can come in either a stainless steel finish (very modern and stylish) or a wood finish (which gives the fridge a more homey appearance). Either way, built in refrigerators are generally top-of-the-line appliances: If you like well-preserved produce and cold drinks, you will not be disappointed.

Built In Cabinets
In the kitchen, most cabinets are technically built in cabinets (which basically only means that the cabinet is attached to a floor or wall). When people think of built in cabinets in a kitchen space, they are usually thinking of a floor-to-ceiling cabinet structure, as opposed to the standard cabinets above or below a countertop.

The look of a floor-to-ceiling built in cabinet is quite elegant, but the real selling point is how it functions. People often find it much more desirable to be able to store all of their like items in the same space. With traditional cabinets, it is often the case that cookware or flatware or anything you might need is separated around the room, which can make cooking and serving more of a hassle. With the space that a floor to ceiling cabinet system provides, it is much more likely that everything you need for any given meal (other than food) will all be in one place and a lot easier to manage.

Built In Ovens
A built in oven is often a prerequisite for a new kitchen or a kitchen remodel. They are quite common, and look great. One of the nicest advantages of a built in oven is that it can be installed at eye level, making both cooking and cleaning much more efficient. Built in ovens are an excellent choice for those who do a lot of baking and broiling; cooking a turkey has never been so easy!

Built in ovens are also available in double models, for baking two different items at two different temperatures simultaneously. That's good news for those of us who regularly cook for a large household, or those who do a lot of entertaining. If that's not convenient enough, you can also purchase a built in oven that comes with a built in microwave, and that's good news for just about everybody!
