Q: Our driveway and garage floor have settled on the left side of the garage leaving a two- to three-inch gap between the garage floor and the garage door. The door fits snugly on the right side of the garage. Do you have any ideas short of relaying the garage floor?
A: Garage door companies offer a product designed specifically to address the problem of a gap between the garage floor and garage door. This product is called an adjustable bottom bar retainer. It's an aluminum U-shaped channel with a replaceable rubber gasket that's available in different wall heights and widths to cap the bottom of the existing garage door. This will be installed with the garage door in a closed position to conform to the existing surface irregularities and secured with fasteners.
