Hurricane Katrina scared most of us in ways we are not eager to revisit, and as a result homeowners in hurricane zones are taking extra precautions against what is touted to be yet another bad hurricane season. Garage door braces are new to scene of hurricane preparation, and this is a smart idea that is long overdue.
How They Work
Here's the skinny. No matter what type of garage door you have, garage doors braces will fit. There are vertical braces when the seams are horizontal and vice versa. These braces are fortified to the garage floor and the ceiling.
What's great about this invention is that they are not permanent. Not to say that they are not a viable fixture, but more that these braces do not have to be up during all times of the year. So you won't have to drive over the blocks that are attached to the garage floor. When a storm or hurricane is coming just put them up and when you are in the clear, put them away.
Garage doors are typically pretty flimsy so that they can roll up and down with ease. As a result, they are susceptible to harsh weather. Garage door braces are the answer we have been looking for.
