Loft beds are a very convenient way to save space in a place where the floor plan is limited. Though they are most common in the rooms of children or teenagers, they can be used successfully in other capacities as well. A full loft bed is nice because it provides a comfortable place to sleep for almost any sized person.

Full Loft Bed Kits
A kit for a full loft bed is both economical and, in general, pretty easy to erect even for those with limited carpentry skills. Due to the larger size of full loft beds, the kits that are available will be more expensive than that of a twin or child-sized loft kit, but will still be a very cost-effective option.

The kit will come with the materials you'll need to make your bed and detailed instructions on how it is put up and secured. Lumber (usually pre-drilled for convenience) and hardware come with the kit, but you will most likely have to supply a few common tools.

Full Size Loft Bed Plans
Less expensive, but more labor intensive, a plan for a full size loft bed is an excellent choice for DIYers looking for a worthwhile project. Purchasing plans will only cost a few bucks at the most, and very simple designs can be found online for free. The benefit of purchasing a plan is that it takes the guesswork out of where to begin and how to do it properly. A full loft bed will require a fair amount of support, and following a plan designed by someone who's already done it (and likely done it many times) is a good way to ensure a successful and sound structure.

Custom and Built-In Full Size Lofts
The best time to think about where your full loft bed is supposed to go and how it should be designed is during the process of planning out a home or doing a remodel. When the idea is posed while a lot of other work is being done, the options available are far greater, and the cost will be less.

A full size loft bed can easily be added to the blueprints of a room as long as you know beforehand that you want one. In this scenario, having a loft built into a wall or suspended from a ceiling is just as viable an option as changing the size of a closet or the style of kitchen sink.

Other Loft Bed Considerations
If you are thinking of purchasing a loft bed kit, make sure that it comes with a ladder. When shopping for kits, it is also a good idea to check how much the shipping will cost, or whether it is included in the price. Shipping lumber can be rather expensive, so if there is an additional charge, it could make a different model more cost-effective.

Also, a full loft bed will have a significant amount of space underneath it that can be used for something else. Check to see if the company or contractor you deal with has some suggestions on how that space can best be used. In many cases, they will, and the room can become even more space-efficient.
