The industry suggests you change out your air conditioner filter every thirty days, though advances in technology claim that you can let some filters sit for 90 days before they need to be replaced. They are also the most maintenance free filters, and can be cleaned for re-use, saving you the trouble of purchasing a new filter for every change.

There are a number of other filters out there, all offering their own special benefits. Lysol treated filters claim to work wonders when it comes to reducing airborne bacteria, and microparticle and HEPA filters are supposed to be optimal as far as cleaning and purifying the air you breathe.
