Cabinets are usually associated with kitchens in the Mile High City, but they are just as valuable as a storage solution for your bathroom. Whether you're working with an extensive master bathroom, or you're organizing a basement bath that makes an average broom closet feel roomy, the nature of bathrooms calls for innovative cabinetry designs that make the most of these central, high-traffic areas in your home.

Denver Bathroom Cabinets: The Vanity

Your choice of vanity is the most important decision you will make when it comes to installing a bathroom cabinet in Denver. After all, it's where you wash, apply makeup, groom, shave, primp, brush your hair and teeth, you name it. With the notable exceptions of bathing and going to the toilet, every thing you do in your bathroom is centered on that area. That being said, the more you can centralize your bath around your vanity by incorporating quality drawers, cabinets, and shelving in the design, the more convenient and efficient your bathroom will be. Don't make the mistake of thinking that limits your options when it comes to choosing innovative designs, however. Wall-mounted and corner-mounted vanities, full-size models, antique designs, contemporary looks, double sink vanities, floor to ceiling vanities, and vanities that stand on legs and resemble furniture, are all out there for the right price in Denver.

Denver Bathroom Cabinets: Medicine Cabinets Besides vanities, the most common cabinets found in modern bathrooms are medicine cabinets. This style of cabinet in Denver does double duty: it gives your bathroom a central mirror over the vanity (a must), and a convenient place to store toiletries that we need access to on a regular basis (toothbrushes, razors, hair spray, medications, etc).

  • Recessed Medicine Cabinets are sunk into the wall, so that the mirror sits flush on the surface. These medicine cabinets look great, and are the most popular cabinets used in remodels and new home builds because of their appearance and convenience.

  • Semi-Recessed Medicine Cabinets are basically over-sized recessed models. They fit into your wall just like recessed medicine cabinets, but also extend out a little bit past the drywall to increase the storage capacity of the cabinet itself.

  • Surface Medicine Cabinets are the least expensive, and least attractive, option on the market. You won't find an easier medicine cabinet to install, however, and they eliminate the need to cut into the drywall and frame a space for a recessed model (which can turn into a nightmare if you're surprised by pre-existing plumbing, venting, or electrical wiring).

Other Space Saving Denver Bathroom Cabinet Solutions While vanities and medicine cabinets dominate the Denver bathroom cabinet market, they're certainly not your only place to turn. As mentioned earlier, bathrooms are complicated spaces to work with, since just about everywhere you look you'll find a bathroom fixture, electrical outlet, or some form of lighting. A good Denver bathroom cabinet is designed to work around these obstacles, yet still delivers in the storage department, where you need help the most. Consider the following designs if you're searching for Denver bathroom cabinet ideas with a proven track record.

  • Hanging Cabinetry is an excellent bathroom cabinet solution. Think about it, with the exception of the medicine cabinet, how many aspects of your bathroom sit at chin level or higher? Probably none. From a storage perspective, that's all wasted space. Adding some hanging cabinets means you'll have more space for storing everything from linens to extra toilet paper rolls, and if you incorporate a towel rack onto the underside of your hanging cabinet, you'll be killing two birds with one stone.

  • Floor to Ceiling Linen Cabinets are a great addition to larger bathrooms, and can even be a good spot for a small television, if you're the type that likes to catch up on some prime time programming while you enjoy a good soak.

  • Built-in Cabinetry is perfect for bathrooms, since it combines efficiency and storage in making the most of a tight area. Built-in cabinetry can include drawers, bookshelves, built-in cases, and larger cabinets and can be attractively decorated with solid wood doors, or clear or decorative glass (stained and frosted glass doors are always a nice touch).

How to Install a Bathroom Cabinet in Denver

Installing a bathroom cabinet is about as predictable as planning a picnic in the mountains come springtime. There's a good chance it will go off without a hitch, but as any Front Range native knows, a spring day in the Rockies can bring six inches of snow just as easy as a gentle breeze and sunshine. That being the case, if you don't have a lot of home improvement experience under your belt, be sure you proceed with caution. While installing a cabinet is within reach for most homeowners, repairing electrical wires and plumbing that you just cut through with the sawzall is probably going to require you call in professional help (maybe lots of it). Of course, calling in a professional from the start isn't a bad idea either. It's a great way to guarantee a Denver bathroom cabinet setup that is custom designed to fit your bathroom and your needs in the Mile High City.
