In some instances, having kids means thinking about things on a larger scale. There are concerns about a child's well being now, and in the future, that open our eyes to issues that were hard to see before they came along. Around the home, though, there is a definite scaling down of household objects from clothes to utensils and furniture. Keeping a child comfortable and healthy is a big job, but the tools used to do so are decidedly dainty.

Child Bath Suggestions
When children are very small, turning a sink into a child bath is a common practice. A sink is practically made for a baby's size; and the hose attachment on many sinks can be very useful while bathing your little one. Children grow, however, and eventually you'll have to make your way to the bathtub. In a large space like that found in most tubs, child bath safety is a big concern. Babies are very fragile, and will require constant attention around even a small amount of water and all those hard surfaces.

A child bath bench or chair can help keep small kids secure amidst all that water and slippery soap. Similar to a car seat, they are designed with non-slip bottoms for added protection. Once your kids get a little bigger, the danger of slipping can be lessened by using non-slip bath mats, strips, or decals (that can be found in colorful, kid friendly designs) on the bottom of the tub.

While there is some truth to the stereotype of kids not liking to bathe, if it's made fun, child bath time can be an enjoyable experience for kids and parents alike. Along with the classic rubber ducky, there are a ton of interesting child bath toys available that are not only fun, but useful, too. Animal-shaped rubbery faucet covers will protect small children from bumps and dispense bubbles from their mouths. Since little children experience hot and cold more intensely than adults, some child bath toys come equipped with thermometers to make sure the water temperature is just right.

Child Bedding
The difficulty with child bedding is that it can only be used for a short period of time. Parents often end up spending a lot of money on small blankets, pillows, or cribs that a child will quickly grow out of. Kids are expensive, and they get more expensive as they get older. It might be difficult to resist all those cute little outfits, but all of those little items will soon need to be replaced by slightly bigger ones.

When shopping for child bedding, try to find items that will be useful for multiple stages of development. Instead of purchasing the tiniest, cutest blanket, look for something that will be able to cover a 5 year old as well as an infant. When it comes to a growing child, versatility is almost as important as quality construction.

The child bedding you purchase, above anything else, should be safe. Make sure that blankets, pillows and the like are flame retardant. When dealing with very small children and infants, the softer something is, the better. Not only will it be more comfortable, softer bedding is conducive to deeper, longer sleep, making it more comfortable for the parents as well!
