In Baltimore aluminum fence is fast becoming a popular choice for homeowners across the metropolitan area because of its cost, its great looks, its durability, and advances in aluminum fence technology. It's certainly not for everybody, but if you have a fencing need that aluminum meets, you probably won't find a better fencing material on the market.

What Baltimore Aluminum Fence is Not
Let's get a few things out of the way from the get-go by discussing which fencing needs are not very well suited to aluminum fence in Baltimore. For starters, aluminum fence is not a good solution if you're looking for privacy. Explore wood and vinyl fencing if that's your ultimate fencing goal, as the aluminum bars that are standard fare for Baltimore aluminum fence provide little, if any, visual barrier. Aluminum fence is also not the best choice if you're looking for a cheap fencing solution (i.e. chain link), or a fencing that is particularly versatile when installed on steep slopes (though you can have Baltimore aluminum fencing custom made to fit steep inclines if you're willing to pay for it).

Preferred Uses of Baltimore Aluminum Fence
Noting the aforementioned warnings, aluminum fencing in Baltimore is an excellent choice for just about any other application. Because it is so open (making it poor privacy fence), it's perfect for places where you want to have an unobstructed view of things. Large estates, for example, often utilize aluminum fencing where appropriate because it preserves the large, open feel of extensive lots. It's also very popular for use as pool fencing because it allows you to keep tabs on what's happening poolside (a big plus if you have kids who regularly use your pool). Finally, from an installation standpoint aluminum fence is also a good choice for do it yourselfers, since its straightforward construction and pre-manufactured sections make it relatively easy to install.

Baltimore Aluminum Fence is Durable and Cost-Effective
A third reason that aluminum fence in Baltimore has gained in popularity over the years is its cost effectiveness. It's true that aluminum is not a cheap fencing material, but compared to alternatives such as steel, iron, wood, and vinyl fencing, it usually beats out the competition. More importantly, however, is the fact that the majority of Baltimore aluminum fencing comes with a lifetime warranty on the fence and the finish, while requiring almost no maintenance. Compare that to a wood fence that has to be treated every 5-10 years, and which you'll eventually need to repair when posts rot or vertical slats break or come loose, and even an expensive, high end aluminum fence usually makes more sense in the long run.

Baltimore Aluminum Fencing is Tougher than Steel
The reason that aluminum fence suppliers and installers are able to offer lifetime warranties has to do with the composition of the aluminum. Modern technology has made it possible to produce high grade aluminum that is actually tougher than steel. In fact, some high grade aluminum products are reported to have a minimum yield strength of 35,000 pounds per square inch, compared to minimum yield strengths of 23,000-32,000 psi for most steel fencing. Add to that the fact that aluminum won't ever rust or deteriorate like some steel and all iron fencing will, and you've got the recipe for a fencing that doesn't only come with a lifetime guarantee, but is likely to live up to it (which, you may be surprised to hear, isn't always the case with warranty products in the home improvement/construction business).

Shop Carefully for your Aluminum Fence in Baltimore
As with any fencing, it's important that you take your time when choosing aluminum fence in Baltimore before you purchase. Low grade aluminum fencing rarely has the strength mentioned above, and can easily come with minimum yield ratings half as strong as the high end material. Poorly applied finish coatings can also lead to problems later on (always purchase aluminum fencing with a baked on enamel finish to avoid future issues with the finish). Finally, be sure to read the warranty carefully. While most aluminum fence comes with lifetime warranties, some warranties come with a catch, or several of them. If the fencing you're thinking of buying has a long list of exceptions, move on until you find an aluminum fence line whose warranty doesn't have strings attached. Doing your homework and buying the right aluminum fencing in Baltimore can be the difference between having to replace your aluminum fencing not too far down the road, and resting easy with the knowledge that the aluminum fence you just purchased is going to be the last fence you'll ever have to buy.
